Join us on this exciting expedition to climb Chimtarga (5489m) and Energia (5120m) whist trekking through the stunning Fann Mountains in Tajikistan.
Half a day’s drive from the capital, Dushanbe, are the spectacular Fann Mountains featuring high snow capped mountains, culminating in the mighty Chimtarga, and lush green valleys with beautiful clear alpine lakes. Join us on our all-inclusive 2 week itinerary during which we explore this exciting mountain range including technical ascents of Energia (5120m) and Chimtarga (5429m), the highest peak in the range.
Our price includes a dedicated medic who will join for the duration of the expedition.

The trip runs from Saturday 28th July to Sunday 12th August 2018 and follows the below itinerary.
Day 1: Arrival in Dushanbe, transfer to hotel.
Day 2: Guided tour of Dushanbe.
Day 3: Transfer to Artouch (2200m) (starting point for the trek), accommodation in local cottages.
Day 4: Trek to the beautiful Kulikalon Lakes (2800m) (5-6 hours, 14km)
Day 5: Trek to Chukurak Pass (3165m) and descend to Dushokha Lake (3000m) (4-5 hours, 8km)
Day 6: Trek to Alouddin Pass (3800m) and descend Alouddin Lake (2750m) (6-7 hours, 16km)
Day 7: Trek to Munoe Lake (3500m) (4-5 hours, 10km)
Day 8: Trek to Chimtarga Pass campsite (4500m) (5-6 hours)
Day 9: Summit day – Energia (5120m), descend to Zindo Gorge (3700m) (6-7 hours, 10km)
Day 10: Trek to Mirali Pass (4650m) (6-7 hours)
Day 11: Summit day – Chimtarga (5489m), descend to Zindon Gorge (7-8 hours)
Day 12: Spare summit day.
Day 13: Descend to Bolshoi Allo Lake (3150m) (5-6 hours, 16km)
Day 14: Descend to Little Allo Lake (2340m) and the river Amshut (5-6 hours, 18km)
Day 15: Return to Dushanbe (6 hours). Group lunch and a visit to the city’s bazaars, followed by farewell dinner.
Day 16: Transfer to the airport.
Chimtarga and Energia
Both of these ascents are graded Russian 2B although this is subject to conditions, the routes can be demanding and may involve protected movement on 45-50 degree ice. Climbers must have previous experience with ice axes and crampons and be comfortable moving on ice.
Actual technical climbing days are 2 out of the 16 day tour and non-climbers are welcome to join for the rest of the trip.
The climb will be led by an experienced local mountain guide.
The cost of the trip includes accommodation during the trip which is either in 3* hotels (Dushanbe), tents or local cottages (as mentioned under Day 3 above).
The accommodation provided is in shared rooms / tents, for single accommodation a surcharge can be added for £100 a day (Dushanbe / Artouch) or £3 a day during the trek.
All meals are provided throughout the course of the trip from Day 2 on wards. Subject to your flight times, we can arrange for meals to be provided on Day 1 also, although there are an abundance of restaurants available in Dushanbe.
A chef will join the trek for the provision of all meals during the period.
Guides and Porters
The expedition will be led by experienced Tajik mountain guide, Jurabayev Timur Davlatovich. Jurabayev has been guiding mountaineering routes in for over 10 years and has served as a commander in the Tajik rescue unit at the Ministry of Emergency Situations and Civil Defense. He has more than 60 ascents of the hard mountaineering routes (5-6 Russian grades) and has consistently placed within the top 10 competitors in Russian and World Mountaineering Championships. As well as being an accomplished mountain guide, he also coaches the Tajik national sport climbing team. He will be accompanied by an additional mountain guide of similar qualifications as well as a lead trekking guide. The maximum guide : client ratio on the technical ascents will be 1:5 including Remote Corner staff and the medic.
You will also be accompanied by a trekking guide and porters.
Due to the nature and remoteness of the expedition a dedicated expedition medic is included and will accompany the team for the duration of the trip.
All group climbing and trekking equipment will be provided by Remote Corner. This includes tents, ropes, climbing gear.
You will need to bring your own personal trekking and climbing equipment for use on the trip. This includes:
- Mountaineering boots
- Ice Axe
- Sleeping bag
- Ground mat
- Warm clothing, gloves, hats etc.
- Appropriate waterproof clothing
- Trekking shoes (optional)
- Sun cream
- Any other personal items appropriate for trekking / climbing
